IL PARADOSSO DEL TENERE MENTRE SI DÀ

Il paradosso del tenere mentre si dà is a bi-personal exhibition featuring artists Mariella Bettineschi (Brescia, 1948) and Yelena Yemchuk (Kiev, 1970), now open at Metronom Gallery, Modena. A selection of photographs and paintings taken from different series of artworks are shown in an installation conceived by purpose for the gallery space.

What does it mean to be an artist today? The question on the sphere of action of art, on its boundaries of production, mechanism of affirmation and accreditation is still an issue in contemporary critical debate. Il paradosso del tenere mentre si dà presents the work of two artists from different generations and with different backgrounds, who share a feminist practice and a work that comes from personal experiences. Through their research, Bettineschi and Yemchuk offer possible answers to this question, focusing in particular on the way understanding, participation, experience and awareness are still fundamental concepts in the process and development of an artistic practice.
