Accademia
Accademia is a project realized by Michele Buda, developed inside Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, where he teaches contemporary photography. The research is conceived as a multi-layered reading of images, shapes, objects, actions that are typical of the Academy environment, perceived and described by an author that made the observation a pivotal point in his practice.
The alternation of portraits and images of tormented work surfaces, worn-out instruments, is almost pornographic: the obscene gesture of vexation, the ambiguous and beckoning pose, everything is transformed, the dust becomes seductive, the ordinary clothes become extreme, the absorbed glance is transformed into attitude.
Michele Buda (Born in Cesena, Italy 1967) is a professor at Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna. In 2005 he exhibited at Fotomuseum Winterthur and the following years at the SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne. He had solo shows at Galleria Senzatitolo (2009) and in METRONOM, in 2010 and 2012 respectively for the exhibitions 9909 and Tricks and Falls. In 2016 he was featured in the collective show 4x4 architecture, alongside with Guido Guidi, Prosdocimo Terrasan and Mariano Andreani. In 2017 he presented his newest project ACCADEMIA, in a solo show in Cesena and Rimini, Italy. His works are part of the collections of Linea di Confine per la Fotografia Contemporanea, IBC Emilia Romagna Region, the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal and the Fotomuseum, Winterthur.
